Make a bar stool
South London
Course details:
This new course will be held over six Tuesday consecutive evenings and result in the creation of a beautiful three-legged bar stool.
You’ll learn how to cleave and shape green (unseasoned) timber to create the legs and frame for the stool using a variety of traditional woodworking tools such as the drawknife and spokeshave. Using further old-school tools such as the adze and travisher, you’ll learn how to shape the seat of your stool to a comfortable saddle. In the assembly stages, we’ll explore some traditional joinery techniques which you’ll use to put the stool together and ensure it never comes apart again.
This course is aimed at beginners as well as those with some previous experience. As the end product will be made predominantly with hand tools, expect a reasonable degree of physical exertion, although it’s certainly more enjoy than a boot camp!
Course cost includes:
Materials for the legs and framework of the stool will be provided, but there will be an additional charge for the seat timber – usually in the range of £35-50 depending on what’s available at the time.
Please note that course bookings are non-refundable unless cancellations are made at least a month before the start date. Requests to change dates can sometimes be made depending on availability of places. For my full terms and conditions, click here.
