These compact side chairs are both beautiful and functional, deriving their name from the Old English word for useful.

The subtly shaped seats make them extremely comfortable, while the curved crinoline stretcher give them a strong sculptural presence. They're ideal to sit around the dining table or to tuck into a corner where space is tight.

They can be made in a variety of timbers and finishes. The pair in the main image, which are available now, are Scottish elm with an ash frame finished in black and red milk paint. The others are in spalted beech and painted ash.
